AMS uses a internationally recognised review process for document quality control. This process is based on these principles:

  • Managing complex projects involves breaking them into phases to make them manageable. A phase then becomes a project in itself.

  • A standard definition of a project is a process that has a defined beginning and end, with objectives defined at the beginning and outcomes achieved at the end. A phase also has objectives at the beginning and objectives at the end.

  • The objectives current at the beginning of a phase are inherited from the outcomes of the previous phase, while the outcomes carry forward to become the objectives of the subsequent phase. A phase review process is undertaken at the end of each phase to ensure that the phase objectives have been met.

  • Where an objective has not been satisfied, it is necessary to determine if this failure has a detrimental effect on the previous phase. If necessary, this back stepping process should be continued until the issue has either been resolved or recognised as not critical.
